This format provides a structured framework giving presenters not only an opportunity to share their research at the world’s largest political science meeting, but also an opportunity to develop and enhance research communication skills through a concise presentation. The Symposium coincides with other emerging scholar events on Saturday, such as the Graduate School Information Fair and the Graduate Student Happy Hour. The three categories for individual submission under the Symposium are:

Research Design: Scholars will have five minutes to discuss their research design and logistics. The submitted work should be in process, but not yet complete. The panel will begin with introductions, followed by 20 minutes focused on each scholar’s work. Discussants and the other panelists will have read the papers, and presenters will give a 2-5 minute introduction to their work for anyone watching the forum. The remaining 15-18 minutes will be used for questions and comments both from the discussants and from other panelists. Presenters will be expected to actively engage other papers in the session and provide feedback for that work.
