Each session will be 90 minutes long and include discussions on accessibility in the discipline, disclosure, requesting accommodations, self-advocacy, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in participating in the working group onsite in Boston, please fill out the application. There will be six <strong>$1,000 <\/strong>travel grants awarded to early career scholars to attend the Annual Meeting and participate in the working group. Although this list is by no means exhaustive, we envision a discipline where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faculty and students are empowered to disclose their disabilities\u2013 free from stigma and discrimination\u2013 and lead conversations about their needs and interests&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accessibility is a forethought, not an afterthought, in planning and design processes for professional conferences; all buildings, programs, and services should be usable for all people, to the greatest extent possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Faculty and students who care for and assist people with disabilities receive support and accommodations for care work&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Departments actively recruit and retain graduate students and faculty members with disabilities, providing supports and services at all levels of the career stage&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are opportunities for scholars working on disability-related research to gather, network, and collaborate&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Research on disability is supported by grant funding and published in mainstream political science journals&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Syllabi and teaching materials across all subfields integrate disability-related political research and issues into mainstream political science course materials\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-accent-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-acf611cfb64bcef0f2b313dd5d048549\"><strong>Recent News and Events<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>Relevant Events and Programs Around the Discipline<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>APSA Mentoring Program<\/strong><br>The <a href=\"http:\/\/apsanet.org\/mentor\">APSA Mentoring Program<\/a> connects undergraduate, graduate students, and junior faculty from all backgrounds to mentors in the political science discipline. Potential mentoring topics include graduate school admissions, navigating the academic job market, applied careers in political science, and work-life balance.&nbsp;APSA accepts applications from mentees two times a year \u2013 at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
