#MeTooPoliSci: Addressing Gender Discrimination in Political Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Research continues to document\u00a0the underrepresentation of women in faculty positions in political science<\/a>\u00a0and in\u00a0top<\/a>\u00a0journals<\/a>. Women who hold faculty positions in political science are\u00a0more likely than male colleagues<\/a>\u00a0to experience discrimination and to rate their departments as intolerant. Women in the field are also more likely than men to face\u00a0gender bias<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0their teaching<\/a>.\u00a0To address these issues, this year the Women\u2019s Caucus for Political Science held the first-ever #MeTooPoliSci short course at the 2018 APSA Annual Meeting.\u00a0Read more\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rethinking the Undergraduate Political Science Major<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, the discipline of political science faces many new challenges, including declining enrollments, and demands for the development of \u201cemployable skills.\u201d However, there are new opportunities as well. The rise in mass political engagement\u2013exemplified by the \u201cBlack Lives Matter,\u201d \u201c#MeToo,\u201d and \u201cMarch for Our Lives\u201d movements\u2013suggests a rising interest in politics. With funding from APSA, the \u201cRethinking the Undergraduate Political Science Major\u201d conference will aim to develop new recommendations for the structure of the political science major, with the aim of addressing these challenges and embracing these opportunities.\u00a0\u00a0Read more\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
