APSA\u2019s\u00a0organized section on\u00a0Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior\u00a0(EPOVB)<\/strong>\u00a0promotes scholarly dialogue related to teaching and research on elections, electoral behavior, public opinion, voting turnout, and political participation, both within the United States and throughout the world.<\/p>\n

EPOVB is one of the largest and most active sections in the\u00a0American Political Science Association.<\/a>\u00a0 The section (APSA Section 32) is the union of two divisions: Elections and Voting Behavior (Division 36) and Public Opinion (Division 37).<\/p>\n

In addition to organizing dozens of interesting panels and presentations at the annual APSA meetings, our\u00a0awards<\/a>\u00a0recognize superior research in our field by advanced, emerging, and graduate student scholars. Our official journal,\u00a0Political Behavior<\/a>, publishes original research in the general fields of political behavior, public opinion, institutions, processes, and policies.<\/p>\n

Warren E. Miller Prize<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Blais, University of Montreal; Awarded every two or three years for an outstanding career of intellectual accomplishment and service to the profession in the elections, public opinion, and voting behavior field.<\/div>\n

Philip E. Converse Book Award <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Philip E. Converse Book Award goes to Dan Hopkins for the book, The Increasingly United States.<\/em>\u00a0The Converse Award recognizes the author(s) of an outstanding book published at least five years ago.<\/p>\n

Emerging Scholar Award <\/strong><\/p>\n

Ruth Dassonneville (UMontreal) and Alex Coppock (Yale) are co-winners of our Emerging Scholar Award, which is presented to top scholars in the field who are within ten years of the Ph.D.<\/p>\n

EPOVB Best Paper Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Best Paper Award recognizes the best paper delivered at one of the section\u2019s panels at the previous year\u2019s APSA. This year the award goes to Kenneth Greene, Erin Rossiter, Enrique Seira, and Alberto Simpser for their paper \u201cInteracting as Equals: How Contact Can Promote Tolerance Among Opposing Partisans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Best Article, Political Behavior<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, the section\u2019s Best Paper in Political Behavior Award is given to\u00a0Lauren Young for her article \u201cMobilization Under Threat: Emotional Appeals and Pro-Opposition Political Participation Online.\u201d<\/p>\n

John Sullivan Graduate Student Paper Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

The John Sullivan Award, for the best paper presented by a graduate student at one of the section\u2019s panels at the previous year\u2019s APSA, goes to Victor Ellenbroek for his paper \u201cThe Effect of More Choice on Voter Turnout: Causal evidence from Germany\u201d<\/td>\n
