Each year, the Qualitative and Multi-Method Research section sponsors panels, roundtables, short courses, and other events at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For 2026, our Annual Meeting Chairs are Anastasia Shesterinina<\/a> (University of York) and Michael Yekple <\/a>(Bowdoin College). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Business Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The section holds a business meeting at APSA each year. The business meeting is an opportunity to meet the section officers, learn about section operations, honor our awardees, and get more involved in our research community! Members, potential members, and guests are welcome to attend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For 2026, we anticipate holding our business meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm ET.<\/strong> The business meeting will take place at APSA conference venue; exact location TBD. A hybrid Zoom option will be provided as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2026 Call for Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (QMMR) Section invites proposals for the 2026 Annual Meeting. We seek proposals employing innovative qualitative and multi-method strategies, including those rooted in the interpretive and ethnographic traditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We are particularly interested in proposals that address how the rigorous use and integration of diverse methods enable scholars to ask new research questions, challenge dominant assumptions and theories, and generate insights that capture previously overlooked aspects of the question under study. Proposals should directly engage with the conference theme of democracy under threat, exploring various attacks on democracy and resistance to such attacks across contexts, with implications for reimagining democratic institutions and practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Submissions may be methodological or substantive; substantive papers should emphasize how they innovatively harness qualitative or mixed methods.
