{"id":11,"date":"2017-10-05T19:28:25","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/connect.apsanet.org\/s40\/?page_id=11"},"modified":"2025-09-23T15:45:34","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T15:45:34","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/connect.apsanet.org\/s40\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Canadian Politics Section of the American Political Science Association (APSA) was founded in 2009 by Dr. Patrick James of the University of Southern California.&nbsp; The section has since grown in membership to more than 200 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of this section is to promote interest in Canadian politics, to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information related to Canadian politics, and to encourage the cumulation of knowledge about Canadian politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our goal is to support the research, teaching, and outreach efforts related to Canada among political scientists affiliated with the APSA. A variety of programs support this mission. We share information related to Canadian politics, conferences, and other activities, among our membership. Annually, we organize panels at the general APSA conference, and recognize exceptional books and distinguished careers related to the study of Canadian politics with section awards. We also sponsor section receptions at the annual APSA meetings, fostering informal interaction among our members and providing young scholars with important networking opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope you will consider<a href=\"https:\/\/members.apsanet.org\/Membership\/Add-a-Section\">&nbsp;becoming a member&nbsp;<\/a>of our section.
