Joseph J. Kruzel Memorial Award for Public Service

Eligibility: The Joseph Kruzel Memorial Award for Distinguished Public Service is awarded to a scholar with a distinguished career in national security affairs both as an academic and a public servant. It is given to memorialize Joseph Kruzel, a security studies scholar and policy official who was killed while on a diplomatic mission to Bosnia.

Process: Nominations should include an electronic copy of the nominee’s professional C.V., highlighting her/his record of public service and scholarship, together with a summary statement of no more than 1,000 words concerning the individual’s major achievements and contributions. The individual nominated need not be a member of the ISAC section. These should be submitted to the Kruzel Committee chair TBD on a rolling basis. Please email to TBD with the subject line title “Nominee for Kruzel Award,” and with contact information for follow-up conversations if necessary.

Prize and notification: $1000 will be awarded from an APSA account along with an award certificate. The committee chair will notify the recipient of the award, who will be encouraged to attend the forthcoming APSA convention in order to receive the award in person.
