Thank You to the 17th APSA Teaching & Learning Conference Attendees and Participants
Political science teacher-scholars explored how and why “Teaching Political Science Matters” at the 17th American Political Science Association’s Teaching & Learning Conference held in Alexandria, Virginia, February 7-9, 2025, at the Westin Alexandria Old Town.
The American Political Science Association’s
Teaching & Learning Conference (2025)
Join political science teacher-scholars and students for a unique meeting to promote greater
understanding of high-impact practices and innovative methodologies for the political science classroom.
The conference theme is “Teaching Political Science Matters.” Building on the work done by John Ishiyama’s APSA Presidential Task Force entitled, Rethinking Political Science Education, the 2025 Teaching & Learning Conference will advance those recommendations by exploring why teaching political science matters.

Learn About Pre-Conference Short Course
Join us for the Friday morning pre-conference short courses! This year, APSA is pleased to offer these workshops in three different themes:
Civic Engagement, Artificial Intelligence, and Pedagogy Training.
Theme: “Teaching Political Science Matters”
How can we reconsider and reimagine our own programs, curriculum, and pedagogy? Higher education has changed dramatically in the past couple of decades and yet the importance and value of a political science education has never been more apparent: we must teach how politics works and the importance of democratic values and civic engagement.
“I’m loyal to TLC because it regularly attracts the very best of our discipline. If you are in search of generous colleagues who care deeply about teaching—from every type of institution and from every subfield—you will find them here. Attending TLC helped me to build a supportive professional network that has enhanced my career over the years. For me, APSA-TLC made all the difference!”
