Thank you to all 2025 Virtual Research Meeting participants, speakers, and attendees for making APSA’s inaugural Virtual Research Meeting a productive, enriching experience for all!

The 2025 American Political Science Association’s (APSA) Virtual Research Meeting was an online event on April 10th and April 11th! The two-day event provided a forum for scholars interested in sharing their research, providing constructive feedback for others, and creating partnerships and networks for future collaboration.

We were excited to welcome political science scholars from across all subfields and various career stages of the discipline at our virtual meeting. This 100% digital event featured opportunities to learn from research workshops, general panels, and three virtual keynote panels around the theme of “Political Science Research in a Virtual World.“

We sincerely thank all attendees, participants, Research Group organizers, and members of the program committee for their vital contributions to the success of the inaugural APSA Virtual Research Meeting. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and scholarly engagement were instrumental in creating a dynamic and intellectually enriching experience. We deeply appreciate your active involvement, thoughtful discussions, and commitment to advancing political science research in the digital space. Thank you for playing such a pivotal role in making this event a success. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and fostering innovation in future initiatives.

2025 Theme Statement: “Political Science Research in a Virtual World”
The program committee invited panel, paper, and research group proposals for this collaborative online conference, welcoming contributions from scholars across the discipline, regardless of whether their research directly involves virtual components.

Scholars worldwide can take advantage of the virtual nature of this conference to gather and discuss a wide range of research topics including: innovative methodologies and new approaches toward political science research, the impact of digital tools on research ethics, equity, and access, the potential of virtual spaces to foster more inclusive and connected scholarly communities, or of any topic within political science that would benefit from focused discussion and collaboration in an organized virtual space.

The rapid integration of technology and virtual spaces has reshaped the way political science research is conducted, shared, and applied. From online fieldwork and virtual surveys to digital archives, simulations, and remote partnerships, the virtual environment offers both unprecedented opportunities and unique challenges for scholars. At the most basic level, political science researchers now regularly use virtual platforms to plan, carry out, and evaluate research. Read more
