Carbon & Travel

APSA recognizes the effect travel has on climate change. As such, APSA has included a donation option on the registration form to help offset the impact. The donations received will be distributed between three environmental organizations: 

Carbonfund.org
Carbonfund.org supports third-party validated and verified voluntary carbon offset projects including renewable energy, energy efficiency, reforestation and forest conservation projects globally that reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the threat of climate change.

National Forest Foundation
The NFF works to inspire meaningful connections to public National Forests and leads forest conservation efforts on these lands, including planting 50 million trees.

The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive.

Suggested Donations by Mode of Travel*:

Air – North America $3-$14
Air – Other International $18-55
Car  – Regional $1-3

* Amounts are estimated by the Climate Care calculator, where you can calculate your emissions by your mode of travel.

  • Carbon-neutral building
  • Offsetting GHG emissions from travel by its representatives
  • Urban Agriculture Lab, which includes experimentation on extensive green roofs and container gardening; two pollinating beehives; a vertical urban agriculture on a scaffold structure; and Canada’s first urban rooftop vineyard
  • Recycling available at all times and organic waste collection
