Travel Grants

In response to the current environment, we have expanded our travel grant program. We are pleased to provide both in-person travel grants and virtual accessibility grants to attend the APSA Annual Meeting to qualified applicants including U.S. graduate students, international graduate students studying in the U.S., unemployed members, international scholars, community college faculty, contingent faculty, unemployed faculty, APSA Status Committee members, and any faculty member who has been furloughed or experienced a reduction in available research funds from their college or university.

In-person Travel Grants

Travel grants will only be available to those who participate in the APSA Annual Meeting in-person in Seattle.  They can cover costs of travel to the Annual Meeting such as mileage for attendees who travel by car or plane tickets for attendees who arrive in Seattle by air.  Grants can also cover hotels, meals, on-site and conference-related wifi/internet needs, and Annual Meeting related cab fare.

Accessibility Grants
Accessibility grants will only be available to those who participate in the APSA Annual Meeting virtually.  They are intended to defray the costs of participation in the meeting, including childcare or elderly care, Wi-Fi or internet connection fees, relevant hardware or software, auxiliary aids and services for individuals with hearing or vision disability, or meals.  Accessibility grants will be made up to $190 USD for reimbursement of the above costs.

First-time APSA Annual Meeting attendees and those on the job market or tenure track will receive priority consideration.  All grant recipients will be reimbursed for expenses after the Annual Meeting.

To receive a travel or accessibility grant, you must:

 

  • Maintain an active APSA membership through October 2021.
  • Submit an APSA expense form and itemized receipts by the due date after the Annual Meeting (date to be determined).  Expenses submitted without an itemized receipt will not be covered.
